Time For Piano

Piano Lessons in Molesey, Hersham, Walton, Esher, Surbiton, Thames Ditton, Hampton, Kingston and on-line.

Be inspired by making music from the first lesson and  learn to play piano with a qualified and experienced music teacher, face to face or online.

I am an enthusiastic piano and music theory teacher with experience of teaching people from the age of three to seventy. Lessons are fun and are always structured to help students realise their potential. I am happy to teach people who want to learn for simple enjoyment or work towards formal grades. I have extensive knowledge of teaching within the entire range of ability from complete beginners to Grade 8 (advanced.)

Navigating learning the piano towards playing a favourite song can be daunting. However,  the application of a practical approach and the gradual acquisition of musical knowledge makes it possible. One of the ways this is achieved is by writing own compositions in addition to the use of tutor books. I write my own duets for students. This helps to develop a strong instinct for the keyboard – notes and technique.

I have supported students study the syllabuses of the Associated Board of the Royals Schools of Music (ABRSM), Trinity and the University of West London.  Some of my students have participated in music festivals achieving medals for their pianist skills. However, most importantly, the festival experience is great fun and good for general musicianship.

Student welfare is a primary concern in lessons and I ensure that good muscle memory within technique is developed safely. I am also a very patient teacher with a broad range of knowledge and experience. This includes teaching students who suffer from anxiety or have extra challenges such as dyslexia or poor sight.

A momento of the first lesson is given to all students and greeting cards are available for piano lesson present purchases.

Julia is a wonderful piano teacher.

She taught all four of my children for a period of more than 10 years, nurturing them from complete beginners through the early grades and skilfully guiding them towards many further examination and performance successes at a very high level.

During her sessions, Julia maintained a sense of fun and she prioritised enjoyment. She always treated the children as individuals, taking into account their own strengths, personalities, musical styles and preferences as she worked together with them to develop lesson plans that would hold their interest and encourage them all to achieve their full potential.

The firm foundations provided by Julia have set up a life long relationship with the piano for all my children. Now with the years of preparation of set pieces for grade exams behind them, they all continue to play routinely as young adults for pleasure and relaxation and are genuinely very grateful to Julia for her support and kindness throughout their formative years.

I highly recommend Julia’s holistic approach to teaching.
