The Molesey Regatta

In Molesey you will find a host of different sports in which you can do, ranging from joining Molesey Football Club to signing up to the country renown rowing club. There is plenty to do.

Once upon a time, Molesey was home for bare knuckle boxing in the whole of England.  Now things have changed and that form of boxing has been outlawed. Do not worry, in Molesey there is the world famous rowing club, home to some Olympic athletes and world championship medallists. If you are not quite in that bracket, why not come down and have a look or participate in the amateur Molesey regatta.

If football is your thing, then there are three clubs in which you can join or watch in Molesey. Molesey FC currently play in the Combined County League Premier League and plays at Walton Road Stadium. The Metropolitan Police play at Imber Court and finally AFC Molesey who play in the Surrey County Intermediate League Western. The club has steadily become more popular having won a few promotions since they changed their name from Claygate Swans.

The East Molesey Cricket Club is about half a mile from Hampton Court Palace and was founded in 1871. The club plays in the Surrey Championship division 1 and you can often see a great game of cricket on a warm summers evening. If you prefer to play, the club are always looking for new members so head down there and introduce yourself.

If none of these sports suit you, you could always head down to the open air pool and relax and swim some lengths under the deep blue sky in the summer. While you won’t find any competitive swimming in Molesey it can be a great way to unwind after a hard day.
