I’m Lucy and I am “Arty Elf”.

Why Arty Elf?
I was named ‘Emma Lucy Fletcher’ as my parents thought it would be cute for my initials to spell something…. they then called me Lucy and I have spent the last (nearly 50 years) explaining “well actually my real name is”……! But I thought it worked as my brand name and so here we are!

How it all started:
In 2019 I decided I really would like to have a camera again. I did an online course, bought a ‘way to expensive’ camera and completely fell in love with it.

During the first lockdown my ‘real job’, running a dance school with my Mum in Teddington, completely stopped other than on Zoom. I am used to being always busy, so in order to stay sane I began to document the days by adding a photo to my social media pages everyday. Every photo for the first 60 days, was taken in the gardens where I live in East Molesey, in Bushy Park or Home Park and generally around Molesey. After that, when we were allowed out a bit, I dared to venture as far as Kew, Wisley, Richmond Park and Painshill! But my favourite place is still Woodland Gardens in Bushy Park.

I posted “Raindrops on Roses” on 28th April – Day 43 of my lockdown. A lovely friend (that I hadn’t seen since we were at dance college together) messaged me and asked to buy the print!

I was incredibly touched, I sent her the print and after that more people got in touch wanting to buy my photos.
I also started “squiggling” (pencil drawing) again, which I hadn’t had the time to do for years! l and by May 2020 I had enough stuff to warrant having a website.
Up until then I had only every done drawings for friends and family. Wedding invitations, Birthdays, Christenings etc and thought my pipe dream of having my own little shop was just that…..

The Old Cobblers Shop in Bridge road became available in August and my best friend literally bullied me into enquiring about it…. and so here I am.

I’m selling my greeting cards, prints, photos and other crafty things. As well as that, the shop is mostly filled with lovely things that my clever and talented friends have hand-made or books they have written. I also design bespoke invitations, logos and baby name cards. I’m still teaching and running my dance school as well (I’m quite good at juggling) but if I’m not in the shop when you pop by, that’s probably what I’m up to.
